Costa Rican Kidney Cleansing Herbs

Costa Rican Kidney Cleansing Herbs

When first starting my kidney cleanse here in Costa Rica I was unable to obtain  a few ingredients that are part of Hulda Regehr Clark’s Kidney Cleanse program, so I started looking around for substitutes. The hydrangea root was easy to find. It is the main ingredient in her formula. So with that as w base I wanted to find substitutes for the Gravel Root and the Marshmallow Root. The search took me to places such as The ARK Herb Farm on the slopes of Poás Volcano, to the open air general market in downtown San Jose. What I found are the herbs below. Guapinol Bark Hymenaea Courbaril  The bark from the Jatoba tree more commonly referred to as Guapinol has been used for kidney cleansing. It’s scientific classification is Hymenaea courbaril. It is a hard thick bark that should be ground before soaking for a mixture to be used. Nisparo Leaves Eriobotryia Japonica Hoja de Nisparo is another herb using the leaf as a kidney stone dissolver. The scientific name is Eriobotryia japonica. In the USA and England it is referred to as Loquat. In Spanish speaking countries such as mine, Costa Rica, it is called Nispero Japonica. The word nispero is a Japanese word meaning “wooly bunch”. The underside of the leaves have a soft white coating. This nisparo tree grows all over Costa Rica naturally in the Sa Jose metropolis area in an altitude of 15,00 meters. Corn Silk  Those fine silky strands on your ears of corn can be used as a tea that, according to naturalistic medicine is good for  dissolving kidney stones. The reason why corn silk is used in the treatment kidney stones is that it is a natural diuretic. The tannins and the saponins that are found in corn silk are the active ingredients. The kidneys are stimulated to produce more urine and this reduces the concentration of salts in the kidneys. The increased amount of urine also drains away small bits of stones that have recently formed in the kidneys or may have broken off from large stone pieces to be released in the bladder and to the urethra. Harvest the herb just before it turns brown on the cob. Clean and dry the herb out if you are going to store it. otherwise use it fresh. Cola Cabillo Equisetum sp. The ancient plant Cola Caballo is in a taxonomical family all by itself  called Equisetaceae. It is a diuretic , astringent and mineralizer. The active ingredient is it’s high amounts of silicon in a bio-available form. Cola de Caballo is used to tone the urinary tract and prostate gland while dissolves kidney stones. Cola de Caballo also helps strengthen connective tissue and is used to treat osteoporosis. It is a flowerless, bushy ground cover distinguished by branched, jointed, hollow and striated stems with scale-like leaves. Cana Agria  Costus spicatus Cana Agria’s scientific name is Costus spicarus. The violet scented roots are useful for cystitis, kidney stones, and urethritis. They grow in the Atlantic as well as the Pacific coastal regions of Costa Rica. You can spot them along the highway leading to these two coastal destinations in the lower wet areas....

Marshmallow Root

Marshmallow Root

Marshmallow root is one of several ingredients recommended by Dr Hulga Clark in a kidney cleansing formula. It is not however one of the ingredients for the actual cleansing as it is for the side effects of the other herbs in the recipe. Both the root and the leaf of the marshmallow plant contain a substance known as mucilage polysaccharides. This mucusy substance that does not dissolve in water. It is what causes marshmallow to swell up and become slippery when wet. This attribute of the marshmallow plant gives it the ability to soothe irritation of the mouth, throat and stomach, as well as to relieve coughing. Originally it was used to make marshmallows. It was mixed with corn syrup, sugar, gelatin, gum arabic, and flavoring and baked. It then was a medicinal candy given to children for colds and...

Bowel Cleansing Program

Bowel Cleansing Program

The following I have posted because I am a firm believer in Hulga Clark. She died young (85) for a health holistic researcher. That is because she was unaware of more recent studies on dietary foods such as milk and meat. Hulga was of German decent and still caught up in the cultural habits in diet of that country… meat and potatoes. However her research into pathogens, electronic detoxification, and her accumulation of Kidney, liver and bowel detox methods are impeccable and on the mark. Download her classic book, Hulda’s Bowel & Kidney Cleanse, for easy reference. Bacteria are always at the root of bowel problems, such as pain, bloating and gas …..Although most bowel bacteria are beneficial, the ones that are not, like Salmonellas and Shigellas, are extremely detrimental because they have the ability to invade the rest of your body and colonize a trauma site or weakened organ. So the first thing to do is improve sanitation.  Sterilize your hands after bathroom use and before meals. Secondly use turmeric (2 capsules 3 times a day, this is the common spice), which I find helps against Shigella, as well as E.coli.  Expect orange colored stool. Third use fennel (1 capsule 3 times a day). Fourth use digestive enzyme tablets with meals as directed on the bottle.  (But only as long as necessary, because these frequently harbor molds). Fifth use a single 2 teaspoon dose of Black Walnut Hull Tincture Extra Strength.  Add it to a 1/2 glass of water and sip over a 15 minute period.  Stay seated until any side effect from the alcohol wears off. Sixth take Cascara Sagrada capsules if constipated (start with one capsule a day, use up to maximum on label).  Remember to drink a cup of hot water upon rising in the morning.  This will begin to regulate your elimination. It can take all six to get rid of a bad shigella problem in a week.   ...

Herbal Parasite Elimination Program

Herbal Parasite Elimination Program

Flatworms, roundworms, protozoa, even bacteria and viruses are remarkably easy to kill using a combination of zapping and this herbal program. Thus it is not just for cancer, but a general treatment that can benefit almost every illness Black Walnut Hull Tincture Extra Strength Day 1: Take 2 tsp., all together in ¼ cup water. Sip it, don’t gulp it. Get it down within 15 minutes. (If you are over 150 pounds, take 2½ tsp. Do not take more than 3 tsp. because no additional value has been observed.)This dose kills any remaining stages throughout the body, including the bowel contents, a location unreachable by electric current. The alcohol in the tincture can make you slightly woozy for several minutes. Simply stay seated until you are comfortable again. You may put the tincture in lukewarm water to help evaporate some of the alcohol, but do not use hot water because that may damage its parasiticide power. Then take niacinamide 500 mg tocounteract the toxicity of the alcohol. You could also feel a slight nausea for a few minutes. Walk in the fresh air or imply rest until it passes. You may add more water or honey or a spice to make it more palatable. For a year: take 2 tsp. Black Walnut Hull Tincture Extra Strength every week or until your illness is but a hazy memory. This is to kill any parasite stages you pick up from your family, friends, or pets.Family members and friends should take 2 tsp. every other week to avoid reinfecting you. They may be harboring a few parasite stages in their intestinal tract without having symptoms. But when these stages are transmitted to a cancer patient, they immediately seek out the cancerous organ again. Wormwood capsules (should contain 200-300 mg of wormwood)Day 1: Take 1 capsule before supper (with water).Day 2: Take 1 capsule before supper.Day 3: Take 2 capsules before supper.Day 4: Take 2 capsules before supper.Continue increasing in this way to day 14, whereupon you are up to seven capsules. You take the capsules all in a single dose (you may take a few at a time until they are all gone). Then you do 2 more days of 7 capsules each. After this, you take 7 capsules once a week forever, as it states in the Maintenance Parasite Program. Try not to get interrupted before the 6th day, so you know the adult intestinal flukes are dead. After this, you may proceed more slowly if you wish. Many persons with sensitive stomachs prefer to stay longer on each dose instead of increasing according to this schedule. You may choose the pace after the sixth day. Ground Clove Capsules Fill size 00 capsules with fresh ground cloves; if this size is not available, use size 0 or 000. In a pinch, buy gelatin capsules and empty them or empty other vitamin capsules. You may be able to purchase fresh ground cloves that are already encapsulated; they should be about 500 mg. Grocery store ground cloves do not work!Either grind them yourself or see Sources.Day 1: Take one capsule 3 times a day before meals.Day 2: Take two capsules 3 times a day.Days 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10: Take three capsules 3 times a day. After day 10: Take 3 capsules all together once a week forever, as in the Maintenance Parasite Program. WormWood

Latin (botanical) name: Artemisia Absinthium Common names: Wormwood, Sweet Annie, Green Ginger, Annual Wormwood, Sweet Sagewort, Sweet Wormwood Plant Description: Wormwood, native to the Mediterranean and central Europe, is now also found in Siberia, Canada, and parts of the northeastern United States. It is generally found growing wild on roadsides and wastelands. Wormwood has a perennial root, and grows from mid-summer to mid-autum. From the root, branched, leafy stems arise covered with fine, silky, grayish-white hairs. Its leaves are dark green, covered also in silky grayish hairs which gives them a downy feel, and about 3 inches long and 1-1/2 inches broad. From July to October, Wormwood blooms with small, greenish-yellow, nearly globular flowers arranged in a leafy panicle. Wormwood shrubs are very coarse, sprawling, and aromatic. Its leaves and flowers are bitter, and the leaves and roots exude a substance that restricts many other plants from growing nearby. Medicinal Properties &Uses: The chief constituent in Wormwood is volatile oil, which contains thujone bitters (absinthum), absinthol, thujyl alcohol, bitter sesquiterpene lactone, flavonoids, and bitter glycosides. The herb also contains the tannin, resin, starch, nitrate of potash, and other salts.   Traditionally, it has been used to expel roundworm and threadworm. It is one of three ingredients in Hulga Clark’s treatment for parasites along with Black Walnut tincture and Clove capsules.   Hulga Clark's Parasite Program 1. Uva Ursi Vine

Uva Ursi Vine

The name “Uva Ursi” comes from the Latin uva, “grape, berry of the vine”, ursi, “bear”, i.e. “bear’s grape”. Its botanical name is Arctostaphylos and it is of the Ericaceae family. This herb is a main ingredient in Hulda Clark’s kidney cleanse treatment. The active ingredient in the bearberry is Arbutin which has antibacterial and astringent characteristics. Arbutin glycoside concentration in the plant is rather high exceeding 10%. In order for the proper bio-chemical reaction to occur, the users urine should be alkaline. Hydroquinone, left after molecule division, will act as a potent microorganism killer, accounting for the plant’s ability to fight urinary organ infections. Besides arbutin, the plant contains ursolic acid, tannic acid, gallic acid, some essential oils and resins, hydroquinones (mainly arbutin, up to 17%), tannins (up to 15%), phenolic glycosides and flavonoids. Uva Ursi works best when the urine is alkaline. Taking small doses of sodium bicarbonate will help assure alkaline urine. Drop 7 grams of baking soda in a cup of water, and drink it, when using the remedy. However, where hypertension is possible or diagnosed, baking soda is not recommended. Capsules or pills based on uva ursi extract which includes 20% arbutin, are used in a quantity of 250 mg on average thrice a day. In the form of a tincture the plant is applied in a dose of 15 drops, thrice a day. If infused in alcohol, the tincture is used in a dose of 5 ml thrice a day. Uva ursi should be taken for a maximal period of two weeks. The antibacterial effect of each dose of Uva Ursi reaches its peak 3 to 4 hours after administration.  The ability of Uva Ursi to promote the excretion of fluids has made it valuable in reducing excess water weight or bloating.  Moreover, it helps to reduce the accumulation of uric acid in the blood and promotes the flushing and elimination of wastes and toxins from the system. This helps to ease rheumatism and other diseases marked by the accumulation of acids and waste products, such as gout, arthritis, nephritis and kidney stones.  There have been reports that Uva Ursi may also help to dissolve kidney stones.  ...

Kidney Cleanse Recipes

Kidney Cleanse Recipes

There are many different kinds of Kidney stones. But they are all tiny crystals that form in urine from different salts that build up on the inner surfaces of the kidney. Little by little these crystals form stones in the kidney referred to by doctors as nephrolithiasis. These salts include calcium oxalate, uric acid, cystine, or xanthine. The salts become extremely concentrated if the volume of urine is significantly reduced with chronic dehydration. When concentration levels reach the point at which the salts no longer dissolve, they precipitate out and form crystals. Kidney function is one of the most important metabolic functions in keeping a clean body working properly. Below find a classic procedure for cleansing the kidneys. Hulda Regehr Clark’s Kidney Cleanse Hulda’s Kidney Cleanse Ingredients Hydrangea root ½ cup dried Gravel root ½ cup Marshmallow root ½ cup Fresh parsley 4 bunches of Goldenrod tincture (leave this out of the recipe if you are allergic to it) Ginger capsules Uva Ursi capsules Vegetable glycerin Black Cherry Concentrate, 8 oz Vitamin B6, 250 mg Magnesium oxide tablets, 300 mg Supplement Ingredients Notes Hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens) is a common flowering bush. Gravel root (Eupatorium purpureum) is a wild flower. Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis) is mucilaginous and kills pain. Fresh parsley can be bought at a grocery store. Parsley flakes and dried parsley herb do not work. Goldenrod herb works as well as the tincture but you may get an allergic reaction from smelling the herb. If you know you are allergic to this, leave this one out of your recipe. Ginger from the grocery store works fine; you may put it into capsules for yourself (size 0, 1 or 00). Hulda’s Kidney Cleanse Recipe Measure ¼ cup of each root and set them to soak, together in 10 cups of cold tap water, using a non-metal container and a nonmetal lid (a dinner plate will do). After four hours (or overnight) add 8 oz. black cherry concentrate, heat to boiling and simmer for 20 minutes. Drink ¼ cup as soon as it is cool enough. Pour the rest through a bamboo strainer into a sterile pint jar (glass) and several freezable containers. Refrigerate the glass jar.Boil the fresh parsley, after rinsing, in 1 quart of water for 3 minutes. Drink ¼ cup when cool enough. Refrigerate a pint and freeze 1 pint. Throw away the parsley. Save the roots after the first boiling, storing them in the freezer. After 13 days when your supply runs low, boil the sameroots a second time, but add only 6 cups water and simmer only 10 minutes. This will last another 8 days, for a total of three weeks. You may cook the roots a third time if you wish, but the recipe gets less potent. If your problem is severe, only cook them twice. Hulda’s Kidney Cleanse Procedure Dose: each morning, pour together ¾ cup of the root mixture and ½ cup parsley water, filling a large mug. Add 20 drops of goldenrod tincture and 1 tbs. of glycerin. Drink this mixture in divided doses throughout the day. Keep cold. Do not drink it all at once or you will get a stomach ache and feel pressure in your bladder. If your stomach is very sensitive, start on half this dose. After three weeks, repeat with fresh herbs. You need to do the Kidney Cleanse for six weeks to get good results, longer for severe problems. Also take: Ginger capsules: one with each meal (3/day). Uva Ursi capsules: one with breakfast and two with supper. Vitamin B6 (250 mg): one a day. Magnesium oxide (300 mg): one...

Fats and Oils

Fats and Oils

Oil is a type of fat. The only suitable oils are Virgin Olive, Cold Pressed Palm & Coconut Oil   Fats General Information Not all fat is bad for the body and your health. Well… it is if you consume too much of it or if you eat the wrong ones, such as saturated fats and trans fats. But in reality the healthy fats such as the monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, and omega-3s, are an important and essential part of our diet.  In fact, healthy fats play a huge role in helping you manage your moods, stay on top of your mental game, fight fatigue, and even control your weight. It is threw the fats we get our fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin E and the antioxidant Beta-carotene. If we eliminated all the fats in our diet we would die from vitamin deficiency. Some fats are so important they are called “essential” nutrients. The answer to managing our food-fats isn’t eliminating them, it’s learning to make healthy choices and to replace bad fats with good ones that promote health. But I am getting ahead of myself. To understand the differences between good and bad fats, you need to know their names and some information about them. Types of  Fats Unraveled There are actually only two categories of fats, saturated and unsaturated (which are divided into subcategories). “Saturated” refers to the chain of carbon atoms being fully “saturated” with hydrogen atoms or not. There are two types of unsaturated fats mono and poly. Both of these unsaturated fats are turned into an artificial-saturated fat when they are artificially “saturated” with hydrogen atoms in a very  harmful processing technique. The process of hydrogenation adds hydrogen atoms to unsaturated fats in order to make them more solid, such as margarine. Hydrogenated, unsaturated fats are called trans fats. So, from the two categories of fats, saturated and unsaturated the unsaturated is divided up into, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and then when either unsaturated is hydrogenated you have a trans fat. monounsaturated fats (liquid), hydrogenated monounsaturated fats→ trans fats (solid) polyunsaturated fats (liquid), hydrogenated polyunsaturated fats→ trans fats (solid) saturated fats (solid) trans fats (solid), is a hydrogenated mono or polyunsaturated fat↑ Trans Fats | Stay Away Appearance-wise, saturated fats and trans fats tend to be solid at room temperature (think of butter or traditional stick margarine), while monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats tend to be liquid (think of olive or coconut oil). Processors turning any unsaturated fats into hydrogenated fats, chemically converts the unsaturated vegetable oils into artificial saturated fats called trans fatty acids. This process thickens the liquidy unsaturated into a thick buttery texture similar to saturated fats and oils. A trans fat is a normal fat molecule that has been twisted and deformed during this process called hydrogenation. During this process, liquid vegetable oil is heated and combined with hydrogen gas. Partially hydrogenating vegetable oils makes them more stable and less likely to spoil, which is very good for food manufacturers—and very bad for our health. The Omega Essential fatty Acids Omega-3 and omega-6 are the only two essential fatty acids there are. They are considered essential because our body can not manufacture them. The only source is food. We need them for building healthy cells, and to maintaining brain and nerve function. Both, omega-3 and omega-6 are polyunsaturated fats. The best sources of these fatty acids are fish, fresh vegetables, nuts and seeds. What do they mean by Saturated and Unsaturated Saturated fatty acids (meat & milk) have no double bonds between the individual carbon atoms of the fatty acid chain. That is, the chain...

3 Day Detox Program by FoodMatters

3 Day Detox Program by FoodMatters

Detoxification is a normal process within the body as it neutralizes and eliminates toxins through the major organs such as our colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Our bodies do it naturally every day, in fact it is one of our most basic automatic functions. But what if our self-cleaning system is overloaded by our unhealthy lifestyle and exposure to environmentaltoxins? Our chemical-laden diet, with an over abundance of animal protein, too much saturated fat and too much caffeine and alcohol radically alters our internal ecosystem. However even if your diet is good, a cleanse can restore your immune system and protect yourself against environmental toxins that pave the way for disease bearing bacteria, viruses and parasites. You can experiment with the vegetable juices throughout the day but just make sure you are not adding too many sweet fruits (ideally none at all) as these add to the sugar (acidic) load placed on the body which is what we are trying to avoid during thiscleanse. If you get unbearably hungry then snack on a handful of almonds. You may also alternate the vegetable juice for lunch with a vegetable soup if desired (if you live in a cold climate then this will feel better). Throughout the detox you will notice that after the second day your body will be getting used to the routine and will not get such cravings. Most of all stick with it and theresults will soon...

Bell Peppers And Your Health

There is a good reason to eat hot or sweet Bell Peppers for your health and not for just taste alone. When you grow peppers you are raising vitamins on a bush. Not only are they richer in vitamin C than oranges, they are also lower in calories. Growing bell peppers will make all of this nutrition available to you at a cost of just 33 calories per fruit. Nutrition is only the tip of the health iceberg. Refer to the bibliography at the bottom of this page. Peppers are used: used in the treatment of functional dyspepsia used in the in the management of surgical neuropathic pain in cancer patients used in treatment of the post-mastectomy pain syndrome used for cluster headache pain used as pain plaster in chronic non-specific low back pain used in in dermatology for treatment of itching and pain used in treatment of postherpetic neuralgia used to treat painful diabetic neuropathy used in the treatment of prurigo nodularis  jalapeno peppers are used for treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection used in the treatment of prurigo nodularisprotects against aspirin-induced gastroduodenal mucosal injury used in the treatment of pain due to fibromyalgia reduces painful osteoarthritis of the hands used in the treatment of arthritis reduce chronic human neuropathic pain Bell peppers are low in calories! So, even if you eat one full cup of them, you get just about 45 calories. One cup will give you more than your daily quota of Vitamin A and C! One large green pepper contains approximately 287 mg of potassium They contain plenty of vitamin C, which powers up your immune system and keeps skin youthful.  The highest amount of Vitamin C in a bell pepper is concentrated in the red variety. Red bell peppers contain several phytochemicals and carotenoids,  particularly beta-carotene, which lavish you with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The capsaicin in bell peppers has multiple health benefits. Studies show that it reduces ‘bad’ cholesterol, controls diabetes, brings relief from pain and eases inflammation. If cooked for a short period on low heat, bell peppers retain most of their sweet, almost fruity flavor and flavonoid content, which is a powerful nutrient. The sulfur content in bell peppers makes them play a protective role in certain types of cancers. The bell pepper is a good source of Vitamin E, which is known to play a key role in keeping skin and hair looking youthful. Bell peppers also contain vitamin B6, which is essential for the health of the nervous system and helps renew cells. Certain enzymes in bell peppers, such as lutein, protect the eyes from cataracts and macular degeneration later in life. Bibliography of researched information concerning peppers and our health: 1.
